THERE will be no time to rest during the Premier Soccer League mid-season break for Highlanders and Harare City, who are scheduled to lock horns in the Commander Zimbabwe National Army Charities Shield final on July 24, at Babourfields.

The PSL programme will break after this weekend’s games and action will only resume after a fortnight.

But it will be business as usual for ZNA Charities Shield holders Highlanders and the Sunshine Boys, who will be eager to lay their hands on the first silverware in the 2016 soccer calender.

The two teams booked their places in the final almost two months ago and the tournament organisers have been waiting for the PSL to slot a date for the final.

According to a circular from the ZNA, the PSL has now given the organisers the greenlight to hold the final at Babourfields on July 24.

“Bulawayo giants Highlanders will lock horns with Harare City in the Commander Zimbabwe National Army Charities Soccer Shield final at Babourfields in Bulawayo on 24 July 2016,” read the circular.

Winners of the final will walk away with $12 000 while the runners up are set to pocket $8 000.

ZNA Charities Staff Officer Grade One, Fabian Chitungo, called on soccer fans to come to the stadium in their numbers as there will be lots of entertainment and the teams have promised to field their full strength squads.

“There will be lots of entertainment before, during and after the match.

“The teams also have everything to play for as winners will pocket $12 000.

“So we are looking forward to a good match,” he said.

This year, eight top-flight league teams participated in the tournament, which has grown from just two teams when it was introduced in 2013.

Bosso accounted for reigning league champions Chicken Inn in the quarter finals before sending FC Platinum packing in the semi-finals.

Harare City on the other hand, eliminated CAPS United and ZPC Kariba en route to the Highlanders’ date.

Proceeds from the match will go towards the ZNA’s five charitable organisations for disadvantaged members of the army and their dependants.
