South Africa-based fashion designer Ngugi Velly Vere is set to make headlines next weekend at the Soweto Fashion Week as creative director and producer of the prestigious show.
Vere, a fashion stylist for Velly Image and Style said preparations are at advanced stage for SFW.
The fashion show will run under the theme, ‘African Togetherness’ as the organisers want to connect different cultures through fashion.

“The show will focus much on winter collection but our theme is African Togetherness. We have already started preparing and so farz some things are already in place,” he said.

Vere who was born and raised in Zimbabwe said will also take the opportunity to give fellow Zimbabweans to shine at the show.
“I have lined up Zimbabwean musician Tia (Portia Njazi),  to perform. The lanky musician will also use the opportunity to launch her latest single. We have already talked to her management team and she is in the game. I’m all about empowering people especially Zimbabweans,” he said.

The fashion stylist said apart from having Tia performing, South African idols finalists Sonke will also provide some entertainment.
Soweto Fashion Week starts runs from May 29 to 31 at Soweto Theatre and Tia is scheduled to perform on the 30th at 6:30pm.

Meanwhile Vere said he has grown well in the fashion industry and owes his success to God.
“I have grown much in the industry and now know more. I have heard the opportunity to do things that other stylist in SA haven’t done, and appreciate the respect I have been receiving in the foreign land. I am still growing and God is leading me,” he said.

Vere has worked with various South African celebrities on music videos photo shoots, catwalk, weddings and doing adverts for retail stores among others.
“I have dressed celebrities and business people. I also style and coordinate musical videos, fashion shows, editorials and movies. I basically make people look beautiful and help them achieve their goals.

As a creative consultant I make sure every creative project such as musical videos, editorials and fashion shows are creatively put together to achieve the client’s vision,” reads one of his Facebook posts.

According to the fashion guru, he is the stylist on reality show in Asia called, “Style Wars” which is airing on Fashion/One TV Network.
