ZANU PF Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Tino Machakaire has challenged youths to refrain from any form of violence during the election period.

Speaking ahead of the elections today, Cde Machakaire said youths should exhibit a high level of discipline during the election process.

“We are expecting our youths to vote peacefully and exercise high level of discipline during the election period. As the youths, we need to embrace each other.

“As you have seen, the political parties are conducting their rallies peacefully. We do not want youth who are bent on tarnishing the image of the country through engaging in violent acts,” said Cde Machakaire.

Youths, he said should embrace President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for peace before, during and after the harmonised elections in order to shame detractors who are itching for a cause to discredit the polls.

“As the vanguard of the party, we keep on saying no to violence, no to hate speech as our President is always saying. We wish all Zanu PF candidates good luck and victory is certain considering the work carried by the Second Republic. There is nothing to worry,” he said.

He warned some rogue elements to desist from any form of violence saying the long arm of the law will catch up with them. He urged the youths not to abuse social media by announcing unsubstantiated results saying it will cause unnecessary tension.

“There is a need to use social media responsibly to propagate the successes of our country instead of fanning hate speeches. As youths, we must emulate our leaders in preaching tolerance, peace, and unity,” he said.

Cde Machakaire said the Second Republic is working on economic transformation through infrastructure development, dam construction, rehabilitation of Hwange 7 and 8 Units, and Innovation hubs at tertiary institutions.

The Second Republic under the leadership of President Mnangagwa has made tremendous efforts to rebuild the economy.
