Zanu PF second secretary  Cde Kembo Mohadi is now in charge of party affairs with the party Treasurer Cde Patrick Chinamasa taking on the reigns as the party political commissar following appointments and reassignments that were announced yesterday.

Cde Mohadi who recently stepped  down from his Government duties is now fully deployed at the party’s headquarters in Harare while Cde Chinamasa replaces Cde Victor Matemadanda, who has been appointed Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Mozambique.

Meanwhile,  Mashonaland West provincial chairman Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi has been appointed a Politburo member with immediate effect.

Speaking at a press conference soon after the 352 Politburo session in Harare today, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said the appointments will reinvigorate the party.

“The President has announced that the Second Secretary of the Party Cde Kembo Mohadi has been re-deployed at the party headquarters on full time basis in charge of party affairs.

Cde Matemadanda who was the party’s Political Commissar has been re-assigned as Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Mozambique, while Cde Chinamasa has been appointed as the acting National Political Commissar.

Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi has been appointed a Politburo member with immediate effect,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

The Politburo, Cde Khaya Moyo said, upheld and endorsed President Mnangagwa’s  call for all cadres and structures of the party to work and focus on preparing for the 2023 harmonised elections. The President, he said also announced to the Politburo that Cde Matemadanda, the outgoing National Political Commissar of the party has been accepted as ambassador to the Republic of Mozambique following his redeployment.

“Cde Chinamasa is the acting party’s Political Commissar until the President appoints a substantive National Political Commissar”.

Cde Khaya Moyo also told the press that the party  national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri updated the Politburo on progress being made in the Covid-19 fight.

Cde Khaya Moyo said the Politburo appreciated the pace at which the national vaccination programme is progressing.

“The Politburo recommended that the challenge of distance be addressed to ensure people do not have to move long distances to access vaccines.

“The public was also warned that vaccines are free as declared by President Mnangagwa and anyone charging a fee for these vaccines must know that he or she will be dealt with severely,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo also said the Vice President and Second Secretary of the party General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga gave a detailed report on the advisory council structure, which is still underway. On the issue of Zanu PF Hwange DCC chairman Cde Mathew Muleya, the Politburo agreed that he was not expelled from the party, therefore his election as DCC chairman is above board.

On the youth and the women’s leagues, Cde Khaya Moyo said the Politburo directed  the two organs to go for elections from the lowest to the highest structure and that process must be completed by September 2021 before the National People’s Annual Conference which will be held in October in Mashonaland Central province.

Cde Khaya Moyo said the National People’s Annual Conference will be held in October instead of December to reduce inconveniences which were caused in the past by heavy rains.

Turning to the exhumation of the remains of the late former President Robert Mugabe from where his remains are interred in Zvimba to the National Heroes Acre, Cde Khaya Moyo said the party and Government have absolutely nothing to do with this matter.

“The President has made it very clear that the party and his Government are not involved whatsoever. This a matter we believe is between the family of the late former President and the chiefs in Zvimba.

“For what purpose we will not know, but the party and Government are not at all involved,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
