Zanu-PF Midlands province has lined up victory celebrations in all constituencies following the revolutionary party’s triumph in the just-ended harmonised elections.

The province pocketed 22 constituencies out of 28 and garnered 324 274 votes for President Mnangagwa.

In an interview on the sidelines of a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting in Gweru on Saturday, Zanu-PF Midlands provincial spokesperson Cde Cornelius Mpereri said the revolutionary party will hold victory celebrations in all constituencies.

Zanu-PF lost in Mkoba, Gweru Urban, Kwekwe Central, Mbizo, Chiwundura and Redcliff constituencies.

Cde Mpereri said the party also took time to introspect its conduct in the harmonised elections.

“We had a meeting today (Saturday) and we discussed, among other issues, the harmonised elections,” he said.

“He did a post-mortem of the elections. What was important in the discussions was that we are going to hold victory celebrations throughout the province, including in constituencies where we lost.

“The idea is that there are people who voted for the party in those constituencies, therefore, we cannot discriminate against them. We have also congratulated President Mnangagwa for his victory in the just-ended harmonised elections.”

Cde Mpereri said the party will also undergo a massive restructuring.

“We also made introspection of our party following the harmonised elections,” he said.

“We are going to have a restructuring of the party. What happened is that before the elections, we had structures, but we discovered that the numbers we got do not tally with the structures that we had in our districts.

“There is need for us to rectify that. We are now doing a proper structuring.”

In some constituencies in Midlands such as Zvishavane-Ngezi and Gokwe Central, Zanu-PF MPs won, while the President lost.
