Zanu-PF cadres bay for MP’s blood
Increase Gumbo in Mwenezi
Zanu-PF members in Mwenezi East constituency have criticised their legislator, Cde Joosbi Omar, for allegedely being a “foot soldier” of the G40 group that was causing disunity and confusion within the party in Masvingo. Cde Omar was elected Mwenezi East Member of Parliament in April this year after he won a by-election that was held to fill a vacancy left following the death of another Zanu-PF legislator, Cde Joshua Moyo, in December last year.
In an interview with The Herald recently, Cde Omar rubbished the allegations. He claimed that he was a loyal cadre of the revolutionary party.
“I am not aligned to any faction in Zanu-PF; it’s only some losers who are spreading lies about that because they think it’s an opportunity to bring me down, They are jealousy of me because I trounced them in the last party’s primary elections and they are cooking up stories to tarnish my name, ” said Cde Omar. Cde Omar vowed to continue working for Zanu-PF.
“I have never aligned myself to any faction,” he said. “I was always faithful to Zanu-PF and I am still faithful to Zanu-PF. Why would I associate myself with any faction, I don’t need anybody, what for?’’
Cde Omar said his track record as a forthright servant of Zanu-PF was well known. Some of the Zanu-PF members in Mwenezi East, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of being victimised, said Cde Omar’ s links with G40 were his undoing. He is also accused of failing to deliver.
