Youths call for curfew discipline Cde Chirau

FOLLOWING the introduction of a dusk to dawn curfew, the Zanu PF Youth League has appealed to all Zimbabweans to exercise utmost discipline and comply with the latest restrictions as saving lives is paramount.

The call from the ruling party’s youth wing comes a few days after President Mnangagwa introduced a raft of measures that include reducing working hours and the criminalisation of deliberate or reckless transmission of Covid-19, which has so far killed 26 Zimbabweans with more than 2 000 confirmed positive cases.

As such, the Youth League’s acting secretary Cde Tendai Chirau said the latest regulations that restrict unnecessary movement and gatherings must be taken seriously by all citizens and residents of Zimbabwe.

“His Excellency effectively and fittingly reinforced lockdown measures to stem the escalating spread of the deadly Covid-19 contagion. Having also observed with concern the swift spike in locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in the country, we humbly, but sternly add our voice to the President’s call for Zimbabweans to converge in the national effort against Covid-19,” said Cde Chirau.

With cases on the rise, Cde Chirau urged youths and all Zimbabweans in general to exercise utmost discipline and comply with the latest Covid-19 management stipulations without reservations.

In cases of defiance, Cde Chirau urged the law enforcement agents to decisively deal with malcontents found violating lockdown regulations.

“We also urge national law enforcement entities to ensure that the law comes down hard upon those found violating lockdown regulations, as has become the norm in other countries where the Covid-19 scourge has been correctly diagnosed as a warlike adversary.

“As Zimbabweans, we are our own very first line of defence and should therefore remain vigilant without exception,”.

Cde Chirau warned elements in the opposition, civic society and hostile embassies to desist from manipulating the Covid-19 situation for political gain.
