The Zanu-PF Youth League here has expressed confidence that the ruling party will sweep all the 26 House of Assembly seats in the province owing to a resurgence in the party, thanks to President Mnangagwa’s policies focusing on economic revival.

The Masvingo youth league chair Cde Brian Munyoro yesterday said the revolutionary party was poised for victory in the province where the heavily fragmented opposition was struggling to make inroads owing to Zanu-PF’s unfettered dominance.

Cde Munyoro said the ruling party was a rejuvenated machine that would be difficult to stop in Masvingo.

He said the writing was on the wall that the opposition was headed for a heavy drubbing in the coming polls set for July 30.

“Masvingo is our home ground, the home of Zanu-PF and as the youth league, we are quite confident that the opposition, as weak and fractured as it is, will not win any parliamentary seat because we are going to bag all the 26 House of Assembly seats,” said Cde Munyoro.

He said the ruling party campaign juggernaut was already in full swing in the province, with the opposition still haggling over primary elections to choose their candidates.

Cde Munyoro said President Mnangagwa’s pro-business focus has set the right chord for voters who have languished under sanctions for close to two decades and want economic prosperity.

“All the MDC-T factions and other opposition parties will find it hard to penetrate in Masvingo given their history because they have always fared badly.”

“No one does not know that the MDC-T is responsible for inviting ruinous economic sanctions that have caused so much suffering among our people.

“A serious leader who dreams to be Head of State one day will never talk of bringing Europeans in Zimbabwe to be domestic workers in the rural areas, that is kindergarten politics and no one will take him seriously,” said Cde Munyoro.

He said Zanu-PF’s track record of implementing pro-people policies such as the epoch-making land reform programme will remain etched in the memories of the majority of Zimbabweans.

“Zanu-PF has through land reform, which has been further consolidated by the Command Agriculture programme, empowered most Zimbabweans and ensured food security at household level, particularly in previously food-insecure regions like Masvingo and people will not forget that come voting day on July 30,” said Cde Munyoro.

The MDC-T has barely made inroads in Masvingo, a reputed “one-party state” because of Zanu-PF’s uncontested dominance as evidenced by a clean sweep of all 26 parliamentary seats in the province in 2013.
