Gospel choral group Xtreme Afrique Choir on Sunday scooped the “African Golden Virtual Awards” for the Best Artiste Group/African Gospel. The group, fronted by renowned gospel producer Laiton Ngolomi, won the award ahead of three artists from Garbon, Nigeria and Cameroon.The prestigious “Africa Golden Virtual Awards” honour personalities in music, sport, politics, cinema, fashion, literature and media, which made the pride of Africa.

Ngolomi said although they could not make it to the award ceremony held in Canada, winning shows that they were working hard as a group to give music lovers the best.

“We have been praying that we get the award. It is good for the country as it gives our music recognition abroad,” he said.

For him the award came as a major morale booster in a camp of more than 40 members.

“The people are happy because that shows we are being recognised by people from different parts of the world,” he said.

Some of the group members expressed their happiness on several social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

The group said they would soon release a live DVD that would be distributed throughout the continent.

“This is now an opportunity for us to release our debut DVD that will be distributed in several parts of Africa. In that way we will be letting people know that God has invested a lot of talent in Zimbabwe,” said Ngolomi.

The producer of prominent gospel musicians like Blessing Shumba and Mathias Mhere believe the coming of the award is a clear testimony that the group has the capability to make it big globally.

Xtreme Afrique is following in the footsteps of groups like ZimPraise who have made it big on the international scene.
