The Zanu PF Women’s League has said the party is now easy to market due to the wise leadership of President Mnangagwa which has seen a green shoot in the economy, while scores of youths in Mashonaland East have benefited from empowerment programmes spearheaded by the Youth League.

Women’s League chair Cde Mabel Chinomona and Secretary for Administration Cde Monica Mutsvangwa visited Goromonzi district yesterday on a mission to mobilise more people to join the party.

“Let’s mobilise people. Zanu PF is now easy to market even if you see people outside the country they say they are inundated with praises for President Mnangagwa who is doing well,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

Cde Chinomona said they no longer wanted people to defect from the party, adding that it was important to have a vibrant women’s arm in the party which fostered unity in the ruling party.

“We need to have strong women so that we have a few sellouts. I am requesting Zanu PF women to unite the people in the party. We are here to support President Mnangagwa because he is a good leader,” said Cde Chinomona.

Elsewhere in Dema, Mashonaland East, the party’s Provincial Youth League yesterday launched various projects which include piggeries, bakeries, trading stalls and market gardening to empower young people in the province.

Provincial youth chair Cde Kelvin Mutsvairo said young people should play a pivotal role in achieving President Mnangagwa’s vision to attain an upper middle income economy by 2030.

Speaking during a tour of some of the projects initiated by the ruling party in Dema, Cde Mutsvairo said this would contribute towards the attainment of National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) goals.

Provincial youth executive members were part of the touring delegation and implored young people to venture into businesses.

Cde Mutsvairo said youths were the major players in fulfilling President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, as they were the ones who were economically active.

“Youths should contribute immensely to the growth of the country’s economy. It is high time our youths play a pivotal role in achieving vision 2030.

“The New Dispensation availed opportunities for everyone including the youths who should contribute immensely to the growth of the country’s economy.

“It is high time the youths grab opportunities availed by the New Dispensation and we expect those already in business to venture into bigger businesses. Those with access to land should transform the country into a greenbelt,” said Cde Mutsvairo.  Zimbabwe, he said, had vast resources which were untapped.

In 2018, President Mnangagwa launched the Youth Empowerment Bank as the New Dispensation moved to empower young people by funding various economic projects.

Cde Mutsvairo also called on Government departments to open more opportunities for the youths especially in agriculture.

He donated some groceries and a wheelchair to Mrs Emeldah Mazuru who is living with a disability.

Cde Mutsvairo implored the youths to join various income generating projects assuring them of support from the ruling party and Government.

“We are happy to have various youths participating in income projects, especially in piggery, poultry and other various businesses.

“I am happy that Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Minister (Aplonia) Munzverengwi, is supporting various youth initiatives being undertaken by the Youths.

“Minister Munzverengwi last week promised us that land will be available to youths for farming. We were told that a farm downsizing programme was completed in Mashonaland East Province and land will be allocated per ward and district.

“We now know how many pieces of land are ready for allocation in each district and youths should participate in such a programmes,” he said.

He said Minister Munzverengwi had already sent a delegation to Goromonzi’s Dunstan Farm where 21 youths were allocated pieces of land.

Cde Mutsvairo promised to continue organising programmes to have the marginalised youths benefit from  national development programmes.

One of the youth who benefited from the empowerment projects Mr Steward Gatya, who operates Cambridge Bakery at Dema shopping complex, commended President Mnangagwa for availing opportunities for youths.

He is supplying bread to retailers in surrounding areas.

“I am one of the youths who benefited from the new dispensation’s empowerment drive. I am now supplying bread at wholesale prices to local shops and also selling bread at retail price,”.

He said he was also teaching other youths and women in the area to bake bread.
