Wayne Rooney welcomes Jose Wayne Rooney

WATFORD. — Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney says he is “excited” about the prospect of working under new manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese, who was appointed the new boss at Old Trafford last week, tried to sign Rooney for Chelsea back in 2013 and has remained a long-term admirer of the England skipper.

Mourinho has been getting accustomed to his new surroundings at Carrington while Rooney has been preparing to lead his nation to the European Championship finals in France.

Rooney said yesterday: “It’s exciting. Jose is one of the best managers in the world.

“He knows the Premier League really well. For myself and the other United players, it’s exciting times and I’m looking forward to it.” — AFP.
