Vendors at tobacco auction floors in the capital are gearing up for business when the tobacco selling seasons opens this week.
In an interview, Boka Flea Market chairperson Mr Moreblessing Mushangwe expressed optimism.“This year we are very optimistic that business will be good as more farmers have grown tobacco compared to last year,” he said.
Mr Mushangwe said the cleaning and pegging of vending sites had already been done.

“We have already finished pegging the stands and we are waiting for Harare City Council to approve the ground and allocate the stands,” he said. He hoped that most people from the Harare South constituency would be allocated flea market stands at the auction floor.

“Since it is a constituency pilot project, we expect 90 percent of the beneficiaries to be members from our constituency,” Mr Mushangwe said.

Meanwhile, Quality Tobacco Flea Market manager Mr Blessing Mukundwi has appealed to the municipal police to deal with the illegal vendors .
