Unki Mine in Shurugwi has donated blankets and fuel worth US$60 000 to assist over 2 500 families that have been affected by the Tokwe-Mukosi floods.
The platinum mining company donated 4 000 blankets and 17 000 litres of fuel that were handed over to Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development Fred Moyo on Monday.

Receiving the donations, Deputy Minister Moyo said mining companies had an obligation to assist communities as well as transforming the lives of the people in general.

He said all mining companies were expected to respond to the Tokwe-Mukosi disaster and assist the affected families.
“Mining is a key sector of the economy. We are an integral part of the economy, therefore, when a disaster like this strikes the nation, we are expected to respond,” he said.
