tournament in South Africa next week.
Walter Huchu of Peterhouse has been named captain of the side featuring 13 players.
The other members of the team include Matthew Conolly of Falcon, Sam Curran, Bredan Sly, Kundai Matigimu (all St. George’s College), Keith Jaure (Prince Edward), Wallance Mubayiwa (Chiyedza Primary), Connor MacMillan, Adriaan Kok, Jayden Schadendorf (all Peterhouse) and the St. Johns trio of Ryan Murray, Nicholas Welch and Angus Curtis.
The team will have its first appearance in the tournament against franchise teams from Mozambique, Namibia and the hosts South Africa.
ZC national development manager Nick Singo said they were looking forward to the tournament and were confident of good results since the Under-13s have been the best of their development crop.
“The Under-13 squad is the best squad looking at the other age groups from Under-13 to Under-19.
“We are expecting them to do well, because they are a strong side.
“This is their second year together as a national age group team,” said Singo.
Players to watch out for in the team include Connor MacMillan, Sam Curran and Keith Jaure.
The Under-13 team played South Africa in a friendly limited overs series and Twenty20 games and lost both commitments last year in December.
“It was a good match against South Africa, the boys were closer to winning but they lost.
“The boys are excited and looking forward to winning the tournament,” said Singo.
