THREE MDC-T security personnel from Richard Morgan Tsvangirai House in Nelson Mandela Avenue in Harare have appeared in court for allegedly assaulting City Parking officials and damaging their vehicles last week.

The MDC-T marshals tried to claim public parking spaces outside the building for the free and exclusive use of MDC-T.

Mushauripo Ronald, Dick Daniel and Mugogo Phillip appeared before Harare Magistrate Dennis Mangosi charged with assault and malicious damage to property and were remanded in custody while awaiting determination of their bail application.

State prosecutor Mr Thomas Chanakira alleged that on Monday last week City Parking staff led by their operations manager Chigodora Thomas heard that parking marshals were being chased away by the three security guards who claimed to be MDC-T security personnel.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police escorted the City Parking team when they went to resolve the issue in a peaceful manner.

The court heard that the police left the parking staff alone after the situation had calmed.

But a few minutes later the three security staff approached the City Parking team accusing them of engaging the police. They charged the team who fled. But the security staff chased them, and pelted them with stones and empty bottles.

They smashed the windows of two City Parking vehicles.

The State further alleged that the three grabbed Ngoshi Rudo, a City Parking chief inspector for enforcement and started to punch her face.

They also tried to snatch ignition keys from Ndlovu Dalubuhle, but he resisted and they punched his face.

As a result of the attack, the two sustained injuries while a City Parking motor vehicle had its windscreen and back window smashed.

The matter was reported to police and investigations were made leading to the arrest of three accused persons.
