Three men, employed by the army, allegedly took turns to rape a 25-year-old woman at a base near the National Heroes Acre last Thursday after accusing her of stealing a mobile phone.
One of the accused, Selection Gotekote (22) had hooked up with the woman at a local night club before accusing her of stealing his phone. He allegedly assaulted her with the help of his six workmates before taking her to their base where three of them took turns to rape her.

Gotekote yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Milton Serima, charged with rape while his two accomplices, Romeo Moyo and an unnamed colleague, were still at large.
Mr Serima remanded Gotekote to October 27 for his routine remand before advising him to apply for bail at the High Court due to the seriousness of the offence.

Prosecutor Mr Sebastian Mutizirwa alleged that on October 9 at Nest night club, Gotekote approached the woman and asked for sexual favours for a fee.
The woman allegedly agreed and the two went to a nearby building were a security guard gave them a room and they had consensual sexual intercourse.
On their way back to the club, Gotekote told the woman that he could not find his mobile phone and they went back to look for it.

It is the State’s case that Gotekote suddenly became violent and accused the woman of stealing his phone before assaulting her.
His workmates joined in assaulting the woman and those who tried to protect her.

Gotekote and his six workmates allegedly force-marched the woman to their base, and along the way, Moyo took the woman to a secluded place in the bush where he raped her without protection.

After the act, it is alleged Moyo whistled to his workmates and Gotekote proceeded to rape the woman again.
Gotekote also called their other accomplice who also raped the helpless woman.
They later ordered her to leave their base and the woman made a report to the police.
