Swaymo Enterprises Pvt Ltd, trading as Blue Circle, has apologised to the Government and pleaded for the lifting of a suspension of its operator’s license following a recent case in which one of their buses was involved in a fatal road traffic accident that claimed the lives of 12 people along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road.

Following the accident, Government suspended Blue Circle’s license, which is held by Mr Roy Gonyora and Wipeco Investments (Pvt) Ltd.

The suspension saw the company’s buses being withdrawn from all the routes they were plying.

This week, Blue Circle management wrote a letter to Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona over the issue.

“As a follow up of our correspondence, we wish to underscore our dedication to the safety and well-being of our passengers and the public. As discussed with your office, we are pleading for the facilitation of renewal of expired route authorities,” reads part of the letter.

The management said following their suspension on March 22, 2024, their summited documents showing their level of compliance, including certificates of fitness, passenger insurance, speed limiter certificates, vehicle licenses, drivers’ licenses and retests, defensive driving certificates and medical certificates.

“Following our suspension, we apologised to the Ministry and also submitted the above documentation showing our current level of compliance.

“As highlighted previously, we are ready to be guided by your office on the way back to normalcy. We respectfully plead for your direction and are eager to engage with you to meet the Government’s requirements and resume operations responsibly.

“Your understanding and assistance are essential to us, our employees and the communities we serve,” reads the letter.

Blue Circle and City Bus operations were suspended in response to last month’s horror crash. Authorities found out that the two buses had violated regulations on road traffic and safety management.
