Chipadze High School, which lost furniture, computers and vehicles due to unpaid debts last year, received a boost on Friday when Golden Knot Group of Companies (Pvt) Ltd donated 10 laptops and a heavy duty printer towards the revival of its Information Communication Centre.

The principle director (finance, administration, discipline and human resources) in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Mr Jacob Gonese, who was the guest of honour, commended the school headmistress Mrs Kudakwashe Dzvairo for turning around the school’s fortunes after the debts mishap.

“The school went through a lot last year when its furniture, computers, the school bus and other vehicles were attached because of debts,” said Mr Gonese.

“The school is recovering and we have seen positive developments. She managed to raise the school pass rate to around 88 percent and revenue has increased by 50 percent. We thank the headmistress and her team for turning around the school.

“All headmasters must have the same spirit and run schools the best way they can. You are aware of the 100-day quick returns target.

“Golden Knot Group is a company that believes in giving to critical stakeholders such as the civil service and education sector.”

Mr Gonese said Golden Knot will soon reveal an ICT ownership scheme to allow schools to buy affordable ICT equipment.

“ICT is critical and a key wheel that drives education. A Member of Parliament Mr Kennedy Musanhi has also promised to assist the school,” said Mr Gonese, who noted with concern that only one school here offers metal work subject.

Golden Knot chief operating officer Mr Sifiso Mamhlangu thanked the Ministry for working with them in different provinces around the country.

“We are a company that believes in corporate social investment and we have come with a token of computers to this school. We hope this donation will go a long way in assisting you administratively,” he said.
