TIBOUCHINA, the five-year-old bare mare by Kirk Swanson cantered to yet another win when she won the Sable Flyers 1 450m feature race at Borrowdale on Sunday.Carrying a weight of 52kgs in jockey Brendon McNaughton, the horse, who had a draw of eight, beat Bo Jally by half a lens to take the US$4 590 in stakes for the winning combination.

In her last run at Borrowdale on September 8, with Lance Pagel holding the straps, Tibouchina had won her 1 300m run, beating Briar Rose by three quarters of a lens and has now chalked a second straight victory.

The horse took 1 min 25.28seconds to stop the clock and beat the small field of seven other equine athletes who had accepted to go to the starting stalls.

Bo Jally from the Amy Bronkhorst yard had jockey Stalon Sawere on board while Mother’s Eyes and Kevin Derere finished just a neck behind the second-place combination.

Solar Impulse, saddled by Gorkhan Terzi, was fourth while a lot had been expected from Equina by Bronkhorst who settled for a disappointing fifth in race six on the card.

Earlier in the day, the Swanson’s yard had also saddled another winner in the four-year-old chestnut gelding Copper Bay who won the Merit Handicap 1 800m, race three, with Sherman Brown in control.

Copper Bay cruised to victory by finishing two lens ahead of King Kahal who was just a nose ahead of Orbit War. Leading trainer Lisa Harris also took two events as her stable won in races two and five.

The next race meeting at Borrowdale will be a double feature race that will see the running of Jacaranda Free Handicap 1 200m and the Stayers Challenge 2 200m on October 6.
