THE 2021 Bogwheelers Club National Motocross champions will be crowned at Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare tomorrow.

There were only five rounds which were pencilled in for this year’s Zimbabwean motocross Nationals due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Usually, the Bogwheelers National Motocross Championship series is held annually over six rounds.

Not only is it all to play for when Donnybrook hosts the last round of this year’s Nationals, but with spectators allowed back at the races, motocross fans can finally get back up close and personal with the action again tomorrow.

It’s far closer in all the classes and it’s super tight in the seniors main MX1 Class where seasoned campaigners Cameron Mellor and Doug Mellor are racing head-to-head to win this weekend’s round and be crowned the overall Champion for this year.

It’s also closer than ever in the 125cc Class where there are three riders who are fighting for the title in this very competitive class. Ricky Whyte, Cameron Mellor and Henri Wroe are just some of the 125cc riders to keep an eye out for tomorrow.

Exciting young rider Daiyaan “D’’ Manuel will also be in contention in this class. Manuel also competes in the MX2 Class.

Sadly, Dillian Faasen is out of action after breaking his collar bone while another 125cc Class title contender Emmanuel Bako is unlikely to feature in tomorrow’s race meeting at Donnybrook as he will be competing in a regional event at Legends in Johannesburg, South Africa, today.

In the juniors’ section, Declan Barrett is the one to watch in the 85cc Class. He rides a very exciting race with Emile Croisette who might snatch the title from under his nose if he claims the first step on the podium on Sunday.

Croisette, who did P1 and P2 at the last National event at Donnybrook in October, has just moved back to KTM.

Karl Van As is currently the leader in the 65cc Class followed closely by Riley Rocher. Rocher has been racing in South Africa this year.

In the 50cc Class, Kudzwai Chitsurura, seven-year-old Victor Nyamupfukudza and Jayden Kerwin are all dicing for the championship together with Junior Bako, the young brother of 85cc Class champion rider Emmanuel Bako.

Interestingly, eight-year-old Kerwin is also into karting and is on the verge of being crowned the 2021 Rok Kid Mini Class Champion.

In the PeeWee 50cc Class for riders under the age of seven, Cayden Claassen is leading the pack followed closely by Michael Krause. These boys are just six-years-old. Racing tomorrow starts at 10am and spectators will, for the first time this year, be allowed to watch motocross racing at Donnybrook after having been barred to do so due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

And with all the 2021 Bogwheelers Club National Championship title class fights going right down to the wire, everything points to an exciting race meeting at Donnybrook tomorrow!

The entry fee tomorrow has been pegged at US$5 per person while children under the age of six will get in for free.
