Teacher and student — Zoey and Bev will be back in Bulawayo tonight for another performance at Private Lounge. The two dancers who wowed patrons last Friday when they were guest performers at the new joint have been recalled, this time as main acts. The lounge’s manager — Thelma Zuva said they decided to invite Zoey and Bev after realising how popular the two were in the city.“Bev and Zoey are loved in Bulawayo so we decided to invite them to perform, especially for some who may have failed to attend the lounge’s opening last week.

“A lot of people who attended the opening said they wanted to see more of the girls so we’re bringing them back by public demand,” Zuva said.

The two professional dancers, especially Bev, brought the lounge to a standstill last week as patrons kept clamouring for more.

She however did not perform much as she did not want to steal the limelight from the lounge’s full time dancers. But tonight, all the attention will be on her and Zoey.

However, in the long run, it seems there will be not much need to have Bev and Zoey perform in the city as the lounge’s resident dancers are already carving names for themselves.

The most so far are Tatiana, Nina and Ginger who seem to be getting most tips.

“A lot of people are wondering why we’re operating 24/ 7 but this is because we don’t want people to get bored while in Bulawayo, especially guests at the hotel (Cecil).

Private Lounge is a one-stop shop and at no point should any of our points stop functioning,” said Zuva.

True to her word, three of the Private Lounge clubs are operational throughout the week with consistent entertainment being provided regardless of patronage.

Meanwhile, Bulawayo residents have for the past week been bemused by a searchlight/klieg light in the sky that leads people to Private Lounge in the city centre.

The searchlight which was switched on last Wednesday is situated atop Cecil Hotel.

According to residents, the can be seen piercing the night sky from as far off as Gwabalanda, Cowdray Park Burnside, Hillside, Pumula, Entumbane and Mahatshula suburbs.

Private Lounge proprietor — Biggie Chinoperekwi said the “unusual” light was in fact a harmless searchlight which they are using to market the new lounge as well as direct patrons.

“The klieg light is mainly used by international night clubs. Its purpose is to direct those who’ve never been to our place to easily locate us as all they need to do is look up and follow the light and before they know it, they’ll be right by the door,” Chinoperekwi said.

He said they had received numerous reports from the local police saying residents had been questioning them about the light.

“We’ve had reports from the police telling us that residents are saying it’s a superstitious light. People should not be alarmed by the light but instead follow it whenever they see it as it will be signalling that exciting things have begun.”
