A Harare teenager yesterday appeared in court accused of having sexual intercourse with his 14-year-old girlfriend on Christmas Day. He was charged for being intimate with a young person when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Elijah Makomo.

The teen pleaded guilty to the charges saying the minor had lied to him that she was 16.

Mr Makomo granted the teen $50 bail with the State’s consent and ordered him not to interfere with State witnesses and to continue residing at his given address.

He will be back in court on January 5 for trial.

Allegations are that on Christmas Day at around 9pm the teen and the complainant drove to Mverechena Shopping Centre in Domboshava.

The court heard that when they returned from Domboshava, the teen demanded to have sex with the complainant in the car after locking all the doors.

It is alleged that the complainant refused but later complied.

It is the State’s case that after being intimate with the complainant, the man unlocked the doors for the complainant to leave.

The court heard that the complainant proceeded to her house where she narrated the whole story to her mother leading to the teen’s arrest.
