A Muzarabani man, Stanton Rwere could not believe his luck when his name was called out during the Midterm Mazoe Heritage promotion grand prize held in the capital recently. A 50 year old teacher and aspiring farmer, it had been his dream to own a motor vehicle. Chances were if that dream ever came true at all, he would most probably only be able to afford a pre-owned car. But fate had other plans and handed him a brand new Nissan NP200.

Tears ran down his cheeks as he was presented with the car keys and realised that this was indeed real and not a gimmick. “God is amazing and he answers prayers. I never thought that one day something like this would happen to me,” Rwere had said after the event.

He has now settled back into his rural home but life is not going to be the same. With his new boost he is ready to finally venture into pig and poultry farming, dreams he has long cherished.

“I have always wanted to do poultry and pig farming but my major challenge was finding a vehicle that l could use to transport my products. Now that l have one, I am starting my business very soon” said the hopeful Rwere.

A person’s life can certainly change in a flash and if Rwere sticks to his plans, he might soon become an illustration of this old saw.

He reminisced about his struggles and attempts to venture into farming, without only luck to strike the right chord this time around:
“I always had some faith that one day l would win. I was one person who used to play lotto like crazy up until l gave up on the game but finally I have won a car,” he said cheerfully.

The Mazoe promotion is a marketing campaign by Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited that has seen pickup trucks, various cash prizes that range from US$100 to US$500 and juice vouchers being given away to lucky customers.
