Sungura musician Romeo Gasa launched his fourth album “Pin Code” at Jazz 105 in Harare amid pomp and fanfare on Wednesday.
The album launch was graced by fellow musicians Jah Prayzah, Progress Chipfumo, Tendai Dembo, First Farai and Peter Moyo among others.

Speaking at the launch, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe boss Elvas Mari, who was the guest of honour, said musicians should continue improving the quality of their music.

“As the arts representative body we are happy with the products and the quality of music being churned out by our musicians. Musicians should strive to work hard,” he said.

Diamond Studios boss Steady Munyanyi said the album will be sold at US$1 to thwart piracy.
“Because of the economic environment, we have decided to peg the price of the disc at a US$1 so that ordinary people will be able to afford it,” he said.

Gasa described the album as the “best thing to happen to him”.
“As musicians we keep on perfecting our skills and comparing it with other albums I think this is the best. I have been planning for this album launch since the start of this year,” he said.

The “Simbi Hombe” hitmaker said he was grateful for the support he was getting from felw musicians.
“As musicians in the country we continue to support each other and I am happy that all the musicians I invited managed to attend the launch,” he said.

Since storming into the music mainstream after winning the 2007 Chibuku Road to Fame top prize, Gasa’s star has continued to shine.
To further enhance his otherwise promising career, the musician, who hails from Chinhoyi, relocated to Harare to pursue his music.

“Chinhoyi is a small town and it was becoming difficult to travel to Harare on weekends for shows. Chinhoyi will forever remain my home, I came here to work,” he said.

Gasa, who leads the group Extra Valembe, has so far released three albums titled “Sungura Compressor”, “Mufaro Kwamuri” and “Simbi Hombe”.
