Soul Jah Love unveils new band

Zim dancehall artiste of the moment, Soul Musaka popularly known as Soul Jah Love, will tomorrow unveil a live band at his much awaited engagement party, at the Harare Gardens.
The 24-year-old chanter, who will formally get engaged to his sweetheart, Lynet Musenyi aka Bounty Lisa, at a ceremony to be attended by several other dancehall singers, has promised a top drawer performance. Speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony where he received two sets of costumes for his engagement party from Cynthia Sithole of Jan

Jam Menswear in the city centre, Jah Love said tomorrow’s show was special in many ways.

“Of course I’m getting engaged and thankfully my sister here has seen it wise to assist me with some expensive clothing material, but people know about Soul Jah Love because of the music. So I have prepared something special for the day as I will be unveiling my full band,” said Jah Love. The “Ndini Uya Uya” singer said the fact that corporates, music promoters and fans have shown faith in him means that he has to put in extra effort, to repay their confidence.

“I do not want t disappoint my fans. That is why I will be different on Saturday by using a live band,” he said.  Notorious for his large entourage that has caused friction with a number of promoters, Jah Love says his band members are all drawn from is 22-strong member team.

“When I am on the move especially for a show where I am supposed to make an appearance, I do it with the whole band. That includes my tour manager, driver, security, DJs, dancers and some artistes that I’m still grooming.

“Maybe people will start understanding why I have so many band members when I use a live band like Macheso (Alick) or Jah Prayzah. I do not know why people always expect a non-sungura artiste to be performing solo, I don’t like going on stage alone, its empty and boring – a stage needs presence and action,” he said. Commenting on the chosen platform for his engagement ceremony, the Harare-born and bred artiste said he knows there are many who doubt the two’s sincerity.

“We are only doing this public ceremony because we are done with all the traditional formalities. We did not take any shortcuts to this; everything was done without dishonesty, concealment or fraud. But we are artistes, popular artistes for that matter and we want to celebrate with our families, friends, fellow artistes and fans,” said Jah Love. He also said while prophets of doom have said a lot while others have even tried to derail the Jah Love/Bounty Lisa union, he remains a “conquering lion”.

“Many have tried to destroy this relationship by saying all sorts of things, first about me and then about my fiancé. But it has failed to separate us and the doubting Thomases will be put to shame when we eventually wed.

Tomorrow’s show features, among many others, Sniper Storm, Shinso Man, Kinnah, Seh Calaz, Ricky Fire, Lady Squanda, Crystal, Platinum Prince, Ras Pompy and several other artistes, sound houses and MCs.
