Harrington was married once before marrying Ndaba.
Many sources that Sunday World spoke to in Dennilton, Limpopo, were under the impression that Harrington was married before his marriage to Nthabiseng.
The belief was allegedly generated by Harrington as he had created an impression that he had left behind an estranged wife in Nelspruit when he had an affair with another woman, Dineo Madibane, who was by then a youngster.
She has, however since gone to become one of the most respected priestesses in the Methodist Church.
“He was married twice before his current marriage to Sophie. When he came here to Dennilton he was estranged from his first wife in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. Then he had a love affair with my daughter, which was very brief,” says Mrs Zola, Dineo’s mom.
“When my daughter realised that he was into chasing girls, she called off the relationship and focused on church and spirituality.”
Zola revealed how Harrington inspired her daughter to become the priestess she is today, despite his weakness for women.
After Harrington and Nthabiseng divorced in 2006, they reconciled and lived together as “husband and wife”, leading the church to believe they had remarried.
Harrington is still reflected as divorced despite his marriage to Sophie.
“It is more than three months since the couple got married and the marriage ought now to be reflecting,” says the clerk of the court.
As things stand, Sophie appears to have never known about her “hubby’s” dubious past and about Harrington living together with Nthabiseng.
In February last year, our sources, who did not want to reveal the name of the church, told us that Harrington and Nthabiseng conducted “renewal of vows”.
But Harrington and Nthabiseng were no longer married when they undertook such a public affirmation of their “conjugal” love.
In May last year, Harrington met Sophie Ndaba at the Word of Grace Bible Church in Nelspruit while he was living with Nthabiseng. He and Nthabiseng only went their separate ways in October.
And not for the first time in his life, and possibly unbeknown to Sophie, Harrington was two-timing her, having two love affairs, one with his live-in lover Nthabiseng and another with Sophie.
In the early 2000s he was in a similar situation, having an affair with Dineo and his unnamed, then so-called estranged wife, who was based Nelspruit.
Harrington and Sophie met when they coincidentally invited together by Pastor Paul Nkuna to address the youth.
At the podium of their lavish and surprise wedding, last December, Harrington confessed that they met at Nkuna’s church. Nkuna, who was as surprised as all the other guests were, wore a pair of jeans to the wedding. He did not even know of the love affair.
“I knew nothing of their love affair. I only invited them as guest speakers to address the youth. I was as surprised as everyone at the wedding and wished the couple well,” said Nkuna.
Neither Harrington nor Sophie availed themselves for comments when contacted. Sophie was said to be too distraught to conduct an interview, and Harrington failed to honour the promise he made last week to give this paper an interview.
Bishop Keith Harrington was allegedly forced out of Dennilton, in Limpopo, where he started his career as a preacher in the mid-2000s — when the youth learnt of his alleged improper sexual conduct with young girls.
A Mrs Zola, a former school principal and prominent member of the Dennilton community, first took Harrington in and gave him a rent-free place to live. She then demolished her tavern to let Harrington erect his first-ever tent, which was used as a church.
One of the youth leaders, Vusi Ntuli, known as Khombu, said: “We, as the youth in his church had suspected for some time that Harrington was abusing girls.
“Though we were part of his church and looked up to him as a role model. It came to a point where we wanted to beat him up, but we decided to call the police and chased him out of the place.”
Mrs Zola says she was the one who went to inform pastors about Harrington’s alleged improper conduct with young girls and the kids he allegedly fathered.
Sunday World has a picture of the now 11-year-old girl who was allegedly fathered by Harrington. The picture cannot be published as she is a minor.
The picture was sent to Sunday World by the girl’s aunt, Jessie Ellen Nyathi.
After a lengthy interview with the little girls’s mother, she surprisingly retracted damaging allegations she made against Harrington in an affidavit — following a meeting with Harrington since our interview.
After the interview, Sunday World sent a number of questions to Harrington about the mother’s allegations, who was now insisting that we drop the story. Harrington failed to respond for more than two weeks.
However, the little girl’s mother admits in an affidavit in Sunday World’s possession that she had a love relationship with Harrington when she was 16 or 17, claiming she had misled Harrington about her age. — Sunday World.
