THE business community should shun corruption and concentrate on investment opportunities that improve the country’s economic performance, Policy Co-ordination and Promotion of Social Economic Ventures in the President’s Office Minister Simon Khaya Moyo has said.

Addressing golfers at a networking cocktail held at Chapman Golf Club in Harare on Thursday night, Minister Khaya Moyo said the private sector should also focus on creating an environment that encourages competitiveness.

“I want to be frank and emphasise that we just have to eradicate corruption or else we perish as a nation. We must do clean business, we must facilitate ourselves with you to do business in a manner that is easy and we must also ensure that we create that environment where there is competitiveness,” said Minister Khaya Moyo.

He said the private sector should work hand in glove with Government to make Zimbabwe a safe destination for investment.

Minister Khaya Moyo called on Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora to return home and invest in the country.

He said that Government in partnership with the private sector should facilitate a one stop investment centre.

The one stop investment centre is meant to reduce bureaucracies that an investor goes through before opening shop.

The convener of the networking function Mr Kingstone Kanyike said the event was a follow up to a business investment conference held in October this year.

Minister Khaya Moyo said the main objectives of the evening function were to strategise on ways of doing business and identifying business opportunities.

“Today was really an issue of solidifying all the deliberations of the conference and forward our recommendations to Government for consideration,” he said.
