Salah wants huge pay rise at Liverpool Mohamed Salah

LONDON.  — Mohamed Salah wants an extraordinary £500 000-a-week contract to stay at Liverpool, Football Insider has learned.

The Egypt striker increased the pressure on owners Fenway Sports Group last week by insisting that he wants to finish his career at Anfield.

A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the US-based owners are going to have to go to extreme lengths to keep hold of their star man following a new twist in talks.

Anfield chiefs are aware they are going to have to not only make Salah, 29, comfortably the best-paid player in the club’s history to keep him but also catapult him into the world’s top bracket of earners.

It is believed that Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, wants a deal worth £500 000-a-week for the forward.

He cemented his bargaining power even further with a hat-trick in Liverpool’s momentous 5-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday.

It was the 10th consecutive match in which Salah had scored and lifted his tally for the season to an extraordinary 15 goals in all competitions from 12 games.

The spotlight will now turn to Boston, where the key decisions will be made on how far the club will go to secure the future of the man hailed by Jurgen Klopp as “the best” player in the world.

An agreement is still some way away between Liverpool and the Egyptian, whose current deal expires in the summer of 2023.

FSG have been reluctant to break the bank by handing Salah a money-is-no object deal until his mid-30s.
