Rhumba meets afro-fusion at Food Nest Andy Muridzo

As  tribute shows and songs continue trickling in for the late national hero Dr Oliver Mtukudzi, popular rhumba outfit Diamond Musica joins the bandwagon, performing its collaboration recorded with the music icon for the first time. The group will introduce the new song “Bhutsu” at a show they are sharing with afro-fusion artiste Andy Muridzo at Food Nest Restaurant at Longchen Plaza tonight.

Diamond Musica lead vocalist Pichou Lumiere said, “We will introduce the song in honour of our fallen star.

“Apart from the tribute, our patrons should expect a great performance from both us and Andy Muridzo.

“The act will be different as we fuse rhumba and afro-fusion in a gig we named ‘Rhumba Meets Afro-fusion’,” he said.

Meanwhile, entertainers around the country are hoping for a better audience following lukewarm attendance when most of them started regular shows after a month-long break.

Eastpoint Restaurant will tonight hold a joint show between Carlos Green and Dendera musician Tryson Chimbetu. Pairing up the two is meant to boost numbers.

Sungura musician Peter Moyo will kick-off his 2019 shows with a performance at Chegutu Hotel tonight. This is before travelling to the capital for a show at Eastpoint Restaurant on Saturday.

Jah Signal takes the celebration of his maiden award to Marondera’s Club Werraz. The musician won song of the year for his single “Sweetie/Shinga Muroora” in the Star FM Music Awards last week. The show will be held Saturday night.

Today and tomorrow a host of artistes including Mbeu, Seh Calaz, Jah Signal, Andy Muridzo, Celscius, Boss Pumacol, Unncle Epaton and Bazooka, among other will entertain guests at Youth Advocacy for Reforms and Democracy (YARD) Indaba at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton.

Reggae star Mannex Motsi and his band Zim Reggae Stars will on Saturday night, light up Travel Plaza in the capital. They will treat fans to original music and cover versions of songs by celebrated artistes across the globe.

Sungura maestro Alick Macheo will unite families in an afternoon show at Zebra Bar in Mbare.

The family show will be held on Sunday.
