the main stage of Harare’s Reps Theatre.
The show is called “Dream Lover” and it runs from Thursday to Saturday March 26, featuring music from Neil Sedaka, Bobby Darin, Connie Francis and Carole King.
These four have been chosen because their music is among the best written in the modern era, with broad general appeal and immense popularity among generations of music fans.
The four were also linked through business and personal relationships and their lives, both private and professional, weave across each other’s in many ways and their style flowed from the demand for fans of the 50s, 60s and 70s – their peak period – for bouncy, catchy songs that would live forever.
On stage for this show are 35 singers and dancers, including Nikki Ziehl, Dean Jones, Innocent Museve, Storm Whitaker, Faith Ganyau, Rumbi Chimunda, Andre Breytenbach, Stephane Thomas, Phillip Lee, Nicola Kinnaird and many more.
Choreography is by June Cloete, whose dancers feature in the show’s dance numbers. The show will appeal to all ages and will keep audience members’ feet tapping – as well as have them singing along!
A feature of the show is the first appearance by a number of newcomers with singing talent, one of whom – Phillip Lee – was a winner in the Harare’s Got Talent shows at Reps during the past six months.
The show has performances each night at 7pm (except Sundays and Mondays) and additional 2.30pm matinees on all three Saturdays of the run – March 12, 19 and 26. Advance booking is now open at The Spotlight.
