The Real Estate Institute of Zimbabwe will this year celebrate its 70th anniversary under the theme, “Enabling Infrastructure Development Through Real Estate”.

The event will run from the 2nd to the 5th of July while the main celebrations will be held on July 4 during the institute’s dinner and prize-giving ceremony.

REIZ said the event will be held concurrently with the institute’s annual general meeting and winter school.

The timing has coincided with the period in which the country is seeking ways to improve infrastructure development which is also an important cluster of Zim-Asset.

“The event will be graced by colossal figures in the real estate fraternity and allied industries. They will be sharing their experiences as we work towards championing infrastructure development,” said REIZ in a statement.

REIZ said it needs to update skills among real estate professionals as the market is getting advanced while the environment continues to become more demanding as clients require advanced service

REIZ said the anniversary will provide a fitting opportunity for transmission of memory and sharing of fundamental values to drive the sector forward.

“The institute seeks to remain as a relevant provider of professional services. This will see the institute embracing to a greater extent international best practices and standards in the few coming years.

“Through its existence the institute has defined the skyline of many towns and cities in the country. The institute has immensely contributed to developing Zimbabwean infrastructure through its members,” said REIZ.

The institute was formed in February 1945 with an inaugural meeting of the then called Southern Rhodesia Institute of Estate Agents and valuers held on the 12th of the month and the first members duly elected.

Later on in May 1947 the constitution, rules and by-laws were adopted, under which the institute has pursed its objectives up to this day, and some years later initiated action which resulted in the Estate Agents Act.
