NGEZI Platinum’s Players Player of the Year and versatile defender Qadr Amini has been dealt a heavy blow in his career again amid indications that he is likely to miss the entire season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The talented midfielder, who was also among the Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year finalists last year, succumbed to the knee injury during the club’s second week of pre-season training and is now set to undergo a surgery in South Africa.

Amini has been in South Africa since he got injured early this month and he was expected to return home at the weekend to furnish his club with the latest doctor’s report.

Yesterday, the Ngezi Platinum club chairman Jeremiah Gasiteni said they would only be in a better position to comment after meeting the player today.
But sources close to the club said early diagnosis has spelled that the defender might be out for a minimum of six months after undergoing the procedure in South Africa.

This would be very unfortunate for the left back who was once sidelined for the whole season in 2013 with a muscle tear when he was still at FC Platinum.

He played half of the season in 2014 and then moved to Dynamos in 2015.
But the former Prince Edward pupil managed to make a strong comeback last year playing under the coach of his youth days, Tonderayi Ndiraya, who had previously coached him at high school.

The recurrent injuries comes just after the former Gunners man had a fantastic season in Mhondoro scoring seven league goals and had quite a number of assists.

Amini told this publication in December that when he was sidelined for a year, he thought it was over for him.
