Organisers of the “Purple Festival”  that starts tomorrow at Belgravia Sports Club in Harare have explained how attendees will use the tickets and plan of the whole show.

The festival, which is part of the 12th anniversary of local pharmaceutical company Booties, will have a lot more programmes catering for all ages.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday in Harare to announce the line-up of events, spokesperson Theodore Matambanadzo, said the tickets are on different stages depending on the activity.

“Remember the celebrations start in the morning with a fitness circle which includes Zumba, aerobics and yoga among others,” he said. “Attendees have to buy the ticket for that one which is separate from the other two events such as the food and marketing business show which begins from 10 and ends at 6pm.

From 6pm it’s a concert featuring Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi, Enzo Ishall, Killer T and Takura among others.”

“All these have separate ticketing but there is also a three-tier ticket which accommodates all events.”

Matambanadzo said there will also be two separate stages to accommodate the festival. “We have the fitness circle and main stage for the show. The reason being we want everything to fall according to script and on time.

“Our artistes have been given their slots and are ready for action,” he said.

“The other stage there which is for the afternoon activity session is more family friendly as they can come with their children and take part in lots of programming that suits them.

“The closing show is more like we are used to the concert.”

Asked how other arts disciplines are catered for, Matambanadzo said besides musical fiesta there is also an exhibition and food stalls.

“We have accommodated everyone.

“In fact, many have been asking why the colour purple, it is about the royal colour hence our event is of that magnitude.

“For those fashion conscious there are also surprise giveaways for those spotted and dressed in purple.”

Matambanadzo said plans are underway to make the festival an annual event.

“Yes we started off as part of birthday celebrations but with the overwhelming responses from corporate and stakeholders, we are thinking of making it an annual event,” he said.

“People have been asking how we got to this line up but some months ago we conducted a survey on our social media  platforms asking fans who should we bring on stage and we got a lot of feedback?

“We have settled for those five artistes but with time we will increase and cater all genres.”

He added that some lucky fans will walk away with gift hampers, with the biggest winner walking away with a brand new car.

“We are fulfilling our mandate on community and social responsibilities. Apart from the raffle draws, we are going to handover part of our proceeds and some donated blankets and clothes to various selected charity homes across the country,” said Matambanadzo.
