Manicaland Bureau

Government is impressed with the tremendous progress made by Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) in implementing key infrastructural projects that will drive the development of tertiary institutions despite delays brought about by Covid-19.

The Government adopted the 100-day target based programme to expedite project implementation and propel the attainment of Vision 2030 of an upper middle income society.

MSUAS has embarked on the construction of a state-of-the-art clinic and a lecture room block under the programme. The construction of the clinic, which began during the third cycle in September last year, is 90 percent complete while the construction of the lecture room block that started in November of the same year, is now 75 percent complete.

Minister of State for Presidential Affairs in charge of Implementation and Monitoring of Government Programmes Dr Jorum Gumbo yesterday said the expedition of implementation of such projects remains important.

He had toured the institution as part of monitoring 100-day cycle priority projects in the province.

“The pandemic has been followed by serious economic consequences and all sectors have not been spared. The aftermath of the pandemic does not bode well for project implementation of priority projects under the 100-day cycle programme in respect of funding and delays. As we fight the pandemic, we must expedite the implementation of priority projects in all key pillars of our economy in order to reboot our economy,” he said.
