The Zimbabwe Republic Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is seeking four people after companies and individuals were swindled of over $300 000.

In a statement yesterday, the police said they wanted to talk to Glazener Muchabaiwa (41), Milton Mutorera (31), Pearson Chinanga (34) and Chido Muza (32).

Muchabaiwa, whose last known address is No. 28 Casino Avenue, Waterfalls, Harare, is wanted over a swindle involving $53 550 in 2014.

“The suspect misrepresented himself as a director of Zion Apostolic Church Welfare Trust which does not exist.

“He requested for a quotation from the complainant for the purchase of 4 500 x 10kg bags of maize seed.

“The complainant then delivered the consignment and the suspect sent an email with an RTGS proof of payment of $53 550 into complainant’s account.”

Mutorera is wanted for allegedly committing fraud involving $223 500 from 2009 up to September last year.

“The suspect, who was employed as an accounting assistant, received cash from patients which was meant for banking by the chief cashier and converted the money to his own use.”

Police promised a reward of $1 000 to any person who supplied information leading to the arrest of Mutorera.

Chinanga allegedly stole $6 000.

“The suspect was employed as a property consultant of World Class Realtors in Harare. He was requested by the complainant to sell her plot which is situated in Norton for $30 000 on her behalf.

The suspect was paid a cash deposit of $21 000 and he transferred $13 500 to the complainant’s bank account instead of $19 500, thereby converting a total of $6 000 to his own use.”

Muza, whose last known address is No. 15960 Kuwadzana Extension, Harare, is wanted for allegedly swindling $75 374 from 2011 up to 2015.

“The suspect, who was employed as a pensions ddministrator by Zimbabwe Newspapers Pension Fund, fraudulently raised fictitious pensioners who are her relatives and friends into the company’s payroll. She transferred different amounts of cash into their bank accounts.”

National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba encouraged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to report to the nearest police station.
