LONDON — Manchester United have finalised their world-record transfer for Paul Pogba — as the £100million-plus star finishes his holiday in New York. Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho confirmed that the club are about to sign a “very good midfield player” amid rumours surrounding Juventus’ Pogba. The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the France international throughout the summer, and could finally be about to complete his signature. There have been many hints recently that the move is close, as well as the assertion that they are just waiting for the 22-year-old to return from holiday.

“We got a young central defender that needs time to be a top one, but he has top potential and we believe a lot in him,” the Portuguese said when asked about his squad balance yesterday.

“We brought Micki here, a player that we know the quality he has. We got a super striker (in Zlatan) and we are going to get a very good midfield player.

“So I am happy with the balance of my squad, I’m happy with the effort that the club has, and is still putting in for us.”

And Pogba is essentially a Manchester United player again four years after he left the club in acrimonious circumstances to join Juventus. Reports suggest United have completed their deal for Pogba which is going to break the world transfer record and make him the first £100m footballer in history. — The Daily Express.
