Gospel musician Pastor G launched his new album at a colourful ceremony at Reps Theatre last Saturday. The launch took place concurrently with a live DVD recording. Born Stanley Gwanzura, Pastor G was also celebrating 16 years in the musical industry through the launch of the album titled “Legacy 1610”. Going on stage 30 minutes after the scheduled time, the musician did not waste much time but had to compensate for the lost minutes.

He went on the stage donning a colourful shirt with floral designs and black designer jeans. It was his well-choreographed act powered by energetic dances that sent the crowd into awe as they danced the night away in the same spirit.

Pastor G showed why he is called one of the grand ambassadors in gospel as each song he performed was punctuated with a powerful sermon taking the gospel lovers through praise and worship. “If you are going through difficult times, I know someone in here is having a pending court case, is troubled on how to get healed but just pray to God he will make a way,” he said and revellers raised their hands in unison asking for God’s grace upon them.

In an interview after his performance, Pastor G said, “I just want to thank Zimbabwe for celebrating with me on this occasion. I think it is God’s privilege for me to be able to release 10 albums.

“I am really honoured. I love you Zimbabwe and I pray that people get the album and be inspired, to adore, worship and exhort the name of Jesus above all other names. If you are in trouble, call upon his name and he will hear you,” said Pastor G. His playlist included tracks from his old albums and others from his latest offering.

He performed two songs with Rumbi Sengwayo Matambira who featured on “Imi Ndimi” and Petronella Sengwayo on “Baba”, while “Mabiribobi-Makeke” was the major toast of the night. Six albums were auctioned with the highest fetching $105.

Zim Praise leader Joseph Madziyire who was part of the crowd said; “It is a milestone and an achievement for Pastor G. Few musicians can stand the test of time and Pastor G has shown many what it takes in the musical journey,” he said. The show ended around 10pm with Pastor G calling his family on stage. His wife Pamela and their two sons, Deale and Jason joined him in celebration.
