No to violence: Midlands chair Eng Ncube

Midlands Correspondent
Zanu-PF Midlands Province has warned party candidates whose curricula vitae have been accepted to desist from violence and denigrating other candidates.

In an interview, provincial chairman Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube said all candidates should focus on their attributes and those of the party when campaigning and should be guided by the party ideology, constitution and the election guidelines. Eng Ncube said the party would not hesitate to disqualify those that would indulge in violent activities or denigrate other candidates.

“We urge all candidates to take heed of President Mnangagwa’s call to have a peaceful and non-violent primary election,” he said.

“We should have peaceful elections as a party. These primary elections are snippet of the harmonised elections. We do not want candidates who denigrate others, but instead they should focus on their own attributes and those of the party.

“Those that breach the guidelines will definitely be disqualified.”

Eng Ncube said the party would ensure the primary elections were free, fair and peaceful. On Saturday, Zanu-PF accepted 157 CVs that were submitted by party members aspiring to be the revolutionary party’s parliamentary candidates in the forthcoming harmonised elections.

Eight CVs were submitted for senatorial posts. Eng Ncube said the party was still compiling CVs submitted by those aspiring for council. He said of the 157 who submitted CVs for the parliamentary primaries, 47 failed to meet the requirements.
