Gospel artiste Joel Machacha has started the year on good note by releasing his new album “Tinokutendai Jehovah” dedicated to 2019.

The six-track album has songs which include, “Kana Uchimuda”, “Rufaro Mumoyo”, “Murapi Mukuru” and title track “Tinokutendai Jehovah” among others which the musician said were inspired by the New Year.

In an interview Machacha said music is his passion and this is his fourth album.

“Music is my passion. I decided to release my album now because I have dedicated it to 2019, which is a ‘year of great faith’ to me. Thanking the Lord for taking us this far, this is my fourth album. I started singing in 2013 when I recorded my first album “Vadanei”, followed by “Ekhaya” (2015), then ‘Haanganyadzisi’ in 2017. All three did not do well even on airplay but I never gave up. This new album is the beginning of new era and I can say I am here to stay,” he said.

Machacha said promoters should also give upcoming artistes a chance to showcase their art. “The arts industry needs to promote new upcoming artists and their albums by giving them a platform to shine. We are tired seeing them recycling established musicians at shows. Music is my part time job because I am currently working at ZCDC. 2019 promises to be a good year for me. My management has lined up my first quarter calendar of events,” he said.

“My role model was Brian Sibalo. He inspired me with his good music. He presented himself very well in gospel sector. I have not performed at big events but I believe guidance from my new management will help me open a new chapter in music. I hope by the end of the year we will have achieved a lot.”
