Arts Correspondent Gweru producer Tinashe Rashayi last week released a drama titled “Behind My back”. In the comedy that features actors from Midlands Province, the producer seeks to advise people to desist from cheating in marriages. Rashayi said he got the inspiration from the daily reports on how families are destroyed due to cheating.“You read it in the papers daily and several families have collapsed because of cheating and as artists it is our role to educate people on the dangers of these acts,” he said.

Art is one powerful tool that has great influence on the development of the society.

The story is about married couples cheating on their spouses.

In one of the scenes a husband arrives home and catches his wife with another man and the marriage collapses.

The wife is again dumped by the man she was cheating with and her life becomes miserable.

“I am happy that people have been responding well to the production. That is our vision to have productions that make an impact in the society and we are happy that we are almost there,” he said.

Rashayi said he started his career in 2014 when he wrote a film “Shanje Hadzivake Musha”.

He is passionate about issues that affect married people.

“A society were divorce cases are rampant has very limited chances to develop. So if we try to show people the effects in a humorous way, we might be successful,” he said.

His wish is to have his productions screened on national television.

“That is one way to reach out to a number of audiences and we are hopeful that we will have our works screened,” he said.

Rashayi has joined several producers and comedians who have released dramas that explore various societal issues.

Mukadota, Gringo, Mutirowafanza, Kapfupi and Zuku are among local comedians that managed to make a mark with their socio-economic dramas.
