LONDON. — Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia. Mustafi has agreed a five-year deal at the Emirates. The 24-year-old joins the Gunners in a £35m deal after two years playing in La Liga. He is the second signing to be confirmed by Arsenal on Tuesday, following the arrival of Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna for £17m.Arsene Wenger said: “He is at the right age. He has good experience.

“He is a very focused player who can play with the ball as well.

“We have taken a great player but have prepared well for the future.”

Mustafi released a video on his Twitter page in which he revealed what it meant to finally sign for Arsenal.

He said: “Arsenal, for me, is tradition, power and class.

“I can’t wait to wear the red shirt on the pitch.

“I’m proud to be a Gunner and ready to give everything I’ve got.”

Mustafi has revealed it was Wenger that convinced him to leave Valencia for Arsenal.

The 24-year-old was confirmed as an Arsenal player on Tuesday after the Gunners agreed a £35million deal with the La Liga giants.

Injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista forced Wenger’s hand in the market but he’s secured his top target by bringing Mustafi to the Emirates.

Wenger has been heavily criticised for refusing to splash out in the transfer market but Mustafi’s revealed it was the 66-year-old that convinced him to join.

“It was the interest from Wenger,’ said Mustafi, when asked what convinced him to move to the Emirates.

“When a club comes in and shows interest like Arsenal it makes you feel special.

“When I heard of the interest and saw people trying to get me here – and the situation wasn’t easy – it gives me the feeling that you are really wanted.” — The Daily Star.
