Zanu-PF Murehwa North National Assembly candidate Cde Daniel Garwe has hailed the Information Communication Technology and Cyber Security Ministry’s strides in promoting job creation, economic development and growth around Murehwa.

Celebrating World Telecommunications and Information Society Day last week, the ministry officially opened a Communication Information Centre (CIC) at Murehwa Growth Point.

The event saw major players in ICT and service providers pledging massive technological advancement for the Murehwa community to embrace technology.

In an interview with The Herald, Cde Garwe applauded Government’s initiative in linking the Murehwa community with the outside world.

“Government, through the leadership of President Mnangagwa has uplifted the livelihood of the youths in our area.

“Our youths, women and the elderly can now get assistance from the CIC and be able to interact with the outside world and even look for jobs through the technology hub,” said Cde Garwe.

“Over the past year, Government has been able to establish over 10 CICs in various districts of Mashonaland East province.”

Since the coming in of President Mnangagwa, the ICT ministry opened up 60 centres in 100 days.

Major service providers in the ICT sector such as TelOne, Econet, Telecel, Zimpost and NetOne said they will assist the Murehwa community in upgrading Internet and cellphone connectivity.

Cde Garwe said the massive development being brought to Murehwa by Government shows its willingness to economically develop and empower communities.

“Research for schools, farmers and the business community has been made easy by these developments.

“Once that has been achieved, it means our community is earmarked for development,” he said.
