Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi is in Nairobi, Kenya, where he is attending the African Union Retreat, which among other issues, will receive an update on the implementation of Agenda 2063.

The two-day retreat would also have a discussion on the disparities between the rich and poor on the continent.

In a statement, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said: “The retreat will also provide an opportunity for ministers to be updated on Agenda 2063 implementation and flagship projects including the monitoring and evaluation framework.

“Among other pertinent issues, the ministers are expected to dwell on the impact of the colonial legacy in perpetuating dependency of developing countries including African countries, exploitation of natural resources by transnational corporations and global market distortions.

“The ministers will proffer solutions on how to spur developments on the continent and eradicate poverty.”

Minister Mumbengegwi would share Zimbabwe’s experiences on these challenges.

The resolutions of the retreat would be submitted to the 27th Assembly of African Union Heads of State and Government to be held in Kigali, Rwanda, in July.
