Music promoter David Mudzudzu, who runs Joy Centre in Highfield, will on Sunday have a massive birthday bash at the joint at Machipisa Shopping Centre where several musicians will perform.

Musicians lined up to perform at the event include Progress Chipfumo, Somandla Ndebele, Tryson Chimbetu, Josphat Somanje, Faheem Somanje, Baba Harare, Tendai Dembo and Mark Ngwazi among many others.

Joy Centre has become a favourite for upcoming musicians that are aiming to breakthrough in the industry and yesteryear stars that seek to reunite with their fans.

Yesteryear musicians that have used the joint to reunite with their fans include Paradzai Mesi and his Njerama Boys, Mitchel Jambo of the “Ndini Uyo” fame and Hosiah Chipanga who performed at the joint recently.

Chart-topping musicians have also graced the stage at the venue that attracts hundreds of merrymakers every weekend.

Mudzudzu said the place is open to all musicians who want to launch their careers or meet their fans.

“People don’t pay to come here because this is just an open space. The idea is to allow people to enjoy their weekend with their beloved ones and their musicians,” he said.

“We have upcoming musicians who might find it difficult to launch their careers and we are here to assist them, we have those whose careers are waning and we need also to assist them,” he said.

Mudzudzu believes in promoting musicians despite their backgrounds.

“Promotion is not about taking established musicians. These young stars needs our support. We have also those who made headlines in the past years and are failing to make it, they need our help,” he said.

Chipanga who recently performed at the joint hailed Mudzudzu for his commitment to promote arts.

“He is very passionate about promoting. All the years I have been in the music industry, he is one of the best promoters I have worked with. If all these businessman-cum-promoters have the same mentality our industry will not be the same again,” he said.
