Zanu-PF national secretary for Transport Cde July Moyo has warned the revolutionary party’s parliamentary candidates in the just-ended harmonised who received party vehicles against personalising the vehicles by removing stickers and logos.

Speaking during a Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting in Gweru on Saturday, Cde Moyo said the party would impound and repossess all the party vehicles whose logos have been removed or tampered with.

The revolutionary party distributed vehicles in all 210 constituencies in the run-up to the July 30 elections that were branded according to constituencies.

Some party candidates in the Midlands Province have already removed party logos and branding. Cde Moyo said all the vehicles belonged to the party, therefore they should remain clearly branded and continue to serve their purpose even in constituencies where the party lost.

He said the party’s policy stipulated that all vehicles remain party property and can be impounded if misused.

“All the parliamentary candidates who received vehicles before the harmonised elections must know that the vehicles belong to the party and not individuals,” said Cde Moyo.

“Those that have removed party logos risk losing those vehicles. If we see any vehicle that does not have our logo we are going to impound it instantly. We will reposes those vehicles. They should remain as they were when we gave them to you because they belong to the party.”

One of the vehicles whose logo has been removed was the one allocated to Vungu constituency. All the party’s administrative districts, provincial executive members from the main wing, youth league, war veterans and women’s league, received vehicles from the party. Speaking during the same meeting, Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson, Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube said all the party MPs, including those that lost should remain visible and engaged to ensure that the party is visible on the ground.

“All MPs should remain engaged on the ground to ensure that the party is visible,” he said. “We want to urge those that have lost to also remain visible to enhance their chances of being elected next time.

“Besides, there are people who voted for them in those constituencies.”
