The highly-publicised Lake July DJ Festival was a mixed bag of activities as thousands of merrymakers came to the Lake Chivero venue over the weekend. Although the first night had glitches as the organisers experienced technical problems, the last two days were eventful. On Friday the event was marred by power cuts and a poor sound system. Disappointed and confused, the crowd left without getting the entertainment they had hoped for.

“I am very disappointed and these people are not even communicating with us, so I am leaving to go other organised places,” said a disappointed reveller. The beach party on Saturday, however, was more than compensation for fun lovers who attended the event.

Parking space was at a premium and many left their cars along the road and set on foot to get to the main stage arena. Getting out proved to be another hassle as people spent hours queued up on the roaddue to heavy traffic congestion.

Lake July proved to be the biggest DJ festival ever in Zimbabwe as people from all walks of life had memorable nights. It was fun-filled with local and regional music celebs such as Roki, Myke Pimp, McChita, Tulk Money, Chatzman and Maffcat performing.

People went crazy for Roki when he performed.

“I wonder why these guys like Myke Pimp and McChita are not so popular yet they are good performers,” a fan who identified himself as Tinashe said. Ending with a family fun yesterday, the picnic was also exciting with revellers braaing and drinking as the festival came to an end. This event is meant to be an annual festival and fun lovers are looking forward to next year’s festival
