MIGHTY Warriors and Correctional Queens goalkeeper Chido Dzingirai has joined the Zambian women’s football league team, Zambia Institute for Sustainable Development, on a one-year loan.

Last month the goalkeeper attended trials at the club and made the grade.

Yesterday, she was cleared by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services club to go and play for the Lusaka-based club.

The club’s secretary-general, Arthur Gorejena, said the move will enhance her career considering that the Zambian league is active.

“Chido is joining the club on a one-year loan term.

“We are excited to begin such a groundbreaking collaboration with Zambia Institute of Sustainable Development women’s soccer team in the hope of creating a pipeline of opportunities for our players, coaching staff, and the two institutions at large.

“With non-active women’s soccer, it is important to continue to guide jealously some of our best talent when such opportunities arise to keep the girl child in sport,” said Gorejena.

Correctional Queens treat the development of their players seriously. They have since loaned their star midfielder Marjoury Nyaumwe to champions Black Rhinos Queens. Nyaumwe is in South Africa with the army side that is taking part in the inaugural CAF Champions League regional qualifiers.

Black Rhinos Queens will play their opening match against Namibia champions TURA Magic tomorrow afternoon.

Of late, some Zimbabwean women’s football players have been getting contracts outside the country.

Last month, Mighty Warriors and Harare City defender-cum-midfielder Danai Bhobho joined Tanzania champions Simba Sports Club.
