DeMbare delight

the second half and subdue a battling Gunners in an exciting Castle Lager Premiership tie at Rufaro yesterday.

With Denver Mukamba producing another magical show, especially in the second period when he really came alive, it became a question of when and not if Dynamos would score.
Eventually, Gunners were sent to the cleaners through a goal each by Tawanda Muparati, Mukamba, Farai

Mupasiri and even Roderick Mutuma who finally remembered how to score after months of goal drought.
Gunners — who are fighting relegation — have once again turned to Chunga for salvation as they did last year at the same stage.
But the former Warriors skipper Chunga, roped in to help Thanks Tengwe, could not turn his magic hand on his return to the Gunners technical bench as his charges crumbled in the second half in what probably ranks as his heaviest defeat as Chando Kupisa gaffer.

Chunga said he came to the match expecting to lose and would have been surprised if Gunners had won.
“I am happy with the way we played. I expected Dynamos to win and it was like a case of Bambo trying to bite the dog,” said Chunga.
With more precision and less show-boating, DeMbare could have scored half a dozen goals as they kept the pressure on log leaders Highlanders.

Dynamos have now scored nine goals inside a week following their other victories over CAPS United (3-0) at the National Sports Stadium last Sunday and FC Platinum (2-0) at Rufaro on Wednesday.
To their credit, their defence marshalled by stand-in skipper Guthrie Zhokinyi has been taking no prisoners and has become hard to breach.

Chando Kupisa appeared to have done every trick in the book to contain the champions in the opening half, but they suffered a huge setback in the 34th minute when their first choice goalkeeper Prosper Chigumba was substituted after picking an injury.
Chigumba — who was the stand-in captain — injured his back after he made a suicidal save, off a fine curling effort from Mukamba.

Regular captain and veteran defender Pardon Chinungwa was suspended from the match.
Mukamba, whose close dribbling and deft touches once again lit up Rufaro, received a loose ball on the left channel before unleashing a clever shot which forced Chigumba to stretch out as he parried the ball away.

Apart from Mukamba, Dynamos had tried to breach the Gunners defence with the hard-working Martin Vengesayi Mupasiri and Zhokinyi all coming close.
Gunners also tried to beat Dynamos goalkeeper George Chigova from long-range attempts as Munyaradzi Kunyarimwe called the tall goalkeeper into action in the 10th minute.

Midfielder Charles Mukuruva also shot at goal from outside the box, but the ball curled away from target before the break.
But it was DeMbare who were always threatening to score and indeed their breakthrough came just five minutes into the second half.
Muparati hit the roof of the net when he got to the end of a move involving Vengesayi and Mupasiri on the right.

Vengesayi laid the ball on for Mupasiri to cut in a low cross deep inside the box and Muparati, who was unmarked at the end of the box controlled before firing home.

The goal calmed the nerves of the largely Dynamos fans and the champions went further ahead in the 55th minute when Mukamba carved open the Gunners defence on the right once again.

Exhibiting sheer individual brilliance and confidence, Mukamba waltzed  past Justice Jangano and Munyaradzi Kunyarimwe to drill the ball past              substitute goalkeeper Stephen Chimusoro.

Despite being two goals down, Gunners still showed some signs of life and continued to give a decent fight.
But just when they thought they could come back, Gunners went further down when veteran Murape Murape engineered a move on the right and then played the ball to fellow substitute Mutuma.

Mutuma, who had came off the bench for Vengesayi, fed Mupasiri and the former rugby player tapped the ball home.
Mutuma, who has been misfiring in the last two months then remembered how to score when he made a powerful run on the left after a neat Mukamba pass.
The self-styled “Prince’’ has been out of sorts and low on confidence and once he was sent clear on goal he put so much power to his shot as of to make sure it got in at all costs.

It was also an emotional moment for Mutuma who was relegated to the bench and he was in tears as he raced to the touchline to hug his coach Callisto Pasuwa in celebration.

With Dynamos in a pretty comfortable 4-0 lead, Mukamba then chose to move a gear up with his show-boating and at times needlessly losing possession but nobody seemed to care.

Despite the huge defeat, Chunga remained upbeat on his side’s chances of surviving relegation.
“We are not going to talk about relegation for now.
“There are several teams that are in the relegation zone too.
“We did not play our normal game and even amateurs could have done better.

“Our guys did not have the hunger and gave up when our goalkeeper was injured,” said Chunga.
Chunga, however, took a shot at Mukamba for playing to the gallery.

“That boy Denver should not play like that if he wants to make it in the world.
“Even if Arsenal are leading 8-0, they will never ridicule their opponents.
“He is a very good player but I have stayed in Europe and scouts from that side do not look at that sort of play,” said Chunga.

Dynamos assistant coach Tonderayi Ndiraya said they have been trying to rein in on Mukamba to be less dramatic in his play.
“We have spoken to Mukamba before and advised him to change his ways.
“He is still a young player and we hope that he will mature,” said Ndiraya.

But Mukamba’s show-boating should be the least of Ndiraya’s worries as his side remained in the hunt for the championship.
“Gunners are a very good side and I must say that they played better than CAPS United last Sunday.
“They managed to hold on in the first half but could not hold at the back in the second half.

“I think we beat them on experience because there are lot of youngsters in their team and they could not hold well.
“But they could be a force to reckon with,” said Ndiraya.
DeMbare remain three pints behind leaders Bosso who saw off the Motor Action challenge at Babourfields yesterday.
