Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Province has stepped up preparations for the anti-sanctions march slated for this Friday.

The Sadc-initiated anti-sanctions solidarity day on October 25 will be marked by various activities throughout the country’s 10 provinces and districts, with the major event being held at the National Sports Stadium, Harare.

President Mnangagwa will preside over the main event at the giant stadium.

Addressing a Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) over the weekend, Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Cde Mary Mliswa said the province had laid out plans for the day.

“The Friday anti-sanctions march is upon us and we have started preparations for the day. We are expected to come in our numbers and support this noble gesture of denouncing the sanctions that have stifled our economy,

“As Mashonaland West, we are expected to have the marches throughout all the districts and wards so that we cohesively express our hearts and thoughts through the march.

‘‘Here in Chinhoyi we are going to have three meeting points in which we shall all gather and march up to the Chinhoyi Stadium where we are going to have an anti-sanctions gala from 6pm to the following morning,” she said.

Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Provincial chairman Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi said Government had availed fuel and buses in preparation for the day.

“Government has availed 20 buses and 10 000 litres of fuel for Mashonaland West to ensure the smooth running of the anti-sanctions march on Friday.

‘‘I call upon the Youth League to mobilise people. Let us urge all the people in our wards and districts to come together so that we have a massive provincial march against the illegal sanctions,” he said.
