Zanu-PF chairman for Mashonaland East Province and Murehwa South National Assembly candidate Cde Joel Biggie Matiza has assured President Mnangagwa of an 85 percent win in the coming harmonised elections.

Cde Matiza made the remarks in his welcome message to the President at a rally held outside Rudhaka Stadium on Saturday afternoon where thousands of party supporters in the province were gathered to be addressed by the President.

“Your Excellency, the province is satisfied and is in support of your vision, the people of Mashonaland East are saying we will give you our vote and I assure you of 85 percent victory,” he said.

Cde Matiza said the new dispensation has brought hope to the people of Zimbabwe with President Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” mantra yielding positive results.

“We do not know much of what is happening in Harare, but we hear that hotels are always fully booked by foreign investors who want to do business in Zimbabwe, this is all because of the new dispensation’s policies,” he said.

He said the re-engagement path taken by President Mnangagwa is commendable, saying a nation is better when in good relations with other nations than in isolation.

“The re-engagement exercise is commendable, we want to be in good books with everyone. Also we as a province are in support of your call for a peaceful election, we want peace in our province, we want peace in our nation and because of that we will vote for you,” he said.

Cde Matiza urged party supporters to be calm and tolerant as the nation heads for the harmonised elections.

“Be calm and be tolerant, always remember that a peaceful election is an credible one, an incredible election would be a major step to our development. I have no doubt that all of us will do the right thing on July 30 and make Mashonaland East a Zanu-PF province.”

He said there must be a resounding victory for the party come July 30.
